3.0 Cumulative Projects

3.2.1.3 City of La Habra Heights

The City of La Habra Heights does not currently have any active or proposed cumulative projects in the cumulative impact study area that have completed applications on file with the City of La Habra Heights. However, in December of 2010 Matrix submitted an application to the City of La Habra Heights to develop oil and gas in an existing oil field within the City of La Habra Heights (number 27 on Figure 3-1). The project would include: reentering existing wells for recompleting or drilling deeper; drilling new wells; construction of new surface facilities to separate water from oil and to clean produced gas to pipeline quality; construction of a new truck loading facility for shipping oil; and construction of associated pipelines and support facilities. The project would produce up to 1,500 barrels per day of crude oil, 3 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and would involve drilling up to 25 production wells and five injection wells. The City of La Habra Heights project site is approximately 1.6 miles southeast of the proposed Project site.

Whittier Project EIR 3-4 October 2011

Final

On January 23, 2012, Matrix Oil Corporation scheduled a Community Outreach meeting for residents of La Habra Heights. They are seeking to restart resource production within the City.

The meeting was advertised as open to the public and held in a public facility.

Seeking to record and present the meeting to our viewing audience and those who could not attend the public meeting, the Avocado Express news outlet obtained permission to record a pool feed of the meeting provided to us by the contracted television crew. Matrix Oil then decided to rescind their offer and attempted to block our camera from recording the event.

La Habra Heights Councilmen, Roy Francis, Carl Westerhoff, Stan Carroll along with former Council members Carol Engelhardt and Fred Klein were in attendance.

After intervention by La Habra Heights Councilman Roy Francis, members of the Forth Estate (News Media) were allowed to stay and record the pool feed of the public meeting.

Can you really trust any organization, corporation or individual that works this hard to keep you in the dark?
